What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is an ancient system of natural healing involving the laying-on of hands. It is believed that Tibetan Buddhist monks first used the technique, which was later re-discovered in the 19th Century by Mikao Usui. The Usui System of Natural Healing is a very simple but powerful technique – easily given and received. Reiki is from the Japanese language: ‘Rei’ meaning Universal and ‘Ki’ Life-Force
What can Reiki help with?
Reiki can help with all sorts of areas as it works on all levels of the physical and non-physical self, namely physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Reiki can also be used with other therapies, conventional, complementary or alternative. The Universal Energy is used in a treatment to help boost your own healing systems to work more efficiently.
What can I expect during a Reiki session?
Clients are invited to lie down on a reiki/massage table fully clothed with cushions for comfort and a blanket for warmth. The therapist will place hands on or above the main seven of your chakra points and several minor chakra points (basically from head to toe). Each person will experience something different to the next person, and each individual will experience something different each time, such as increased warmth, or tingling sensations. It is advised for you to give yourself some time afterwards to relax and drink some water – try not to go straight back into a stressful situation in other words. Reiki can be done in a sitting position for those who are not able to lie comfortably on a table.
What can I expect for my pet during a Reiki session?
For animals it is best to conduct Reiki in a space they are familiar with and comfortable in, so Reiki works much better in their own home/field/yard. Animals have similar chakra points to humans, with an additional brachial chakra between their shoulder blades. Animals usually move their bodies or indicate where they would like the therapists hands. Some sessions have lasted 30 mins, others only a few minutes. Some animals, shy, wild or otherwise, prefer hands-off and in these cases they can receive distance Reiki instead. Distance Reiki would also be ideal for those not local to us, although there are probably Reiki healers in your area.
Do you offer distance Reiki?
We do offer distance Reiki healing and have received positive feedback. In all cases it is best for us to work with a photo, what the issue is and the intended outcome. We are happy to do this type of healing free of charge, but we would welcome a small donation to the following charities via our Just Giving pages:
Can I have Reiki with my pet at home?
It is possible for a home visit to be made for you/other family members and then your pet(s). We would need space for a table to be set up and ideally at a time you will not be interrupted. Some cats and dogs have sat under the table whilst their owners are having Reiki and also receive the benefits from there. Please note for some people it is more relaxing for them to get away from their own home as there can be a number of triggers which create a ‘list of things to do’ and it is harder to let go and clear the brain.
